Recuerdos de aquel beso
A Mexican sculptor, born in Córdoba, Veracruz in 1959. He studied Biology at UAM-I and later took sculpture and ceramics classes at the IMSS Art Workshops. In 2001, he completed a Diploma in Visual Arts at the Centro Cultural Helénico, and more recently, he has taken acrylic painting classes with Maestro M. Ángel Oropeza.
His work was exhibited for the first time in 1983, and since then, he has participated in 30 solo exhibitions and over 80 group exhibitions. His art has been acquired by collectors from the United States, Canada, France, Spain, Israel, Japan, and, of course, Mexico.
In 1986, Coste left biology to fully dedicate himself to sculpture, embarking on a continuous exploration of volume, shapes, lines, textures, ideas, and thoughts. He always strives to convey a positive message, inviting viewers to reflect on all the good things in the world—things we often forget to appreciate.
Most of his work is created in bronze, but he is also skilled in working with clay, concrete, fiberglass, and different types of resins. In some mixed-media works, he combines various materials such as glass, marble, and metal structures, merging them into a single piece to interpret an idea.
Jorge Coste expresses himself through harmonious, stylized forms full of movement or well-defined human figures that seek to establish a dialogue with the viewer.
Art will always be the best way to find a moment of peace and joy in this complex modern life.
