The Shapes of Oblivion: A Sensory Experience at Foro EXU

As part of the Art Week programming at Galería EXU × Villa San Jacinto, the event expanded into Foro EXU with the presentation of Las formas del olvido (The Shapes of Oblivion). This performance by artist Michel C.M. offered the public a deeply sensory and immersive experience.

Through the use of light, sound, darkness, and textile media, the space was transformed into an atmosphere of contemplation and estrangement. Here, the work was presented not merely as an image or an action, but as a living experience defined by perception and time. The intervention opened a sensitive territory where the audience could slowly submerge themselves, drifting through the relationship between presence, memory, and disappearance.

The performance became an experience that was both introspective and retrospective. Amidst a carefully constructed environment, Michel C.M. explored the concept of oblivion from his own perspective, articulating a visual and bodily poetics that unfolded between shadows, flashes of light, and the resonance of sound. Each moment seemed to invite the viewer to look inward, while also considering that which remains in the memory as a trace, a fragment, or an absence.

This spatial and emotional construction was further enriched by the collaboration of Ángel VHS and Elba, whose participation was essential in shaping this enveloping experience. Together, they consolidated an environment where technology, performative action, and the sensitivity of the body intertwined organically, expanding the dialogue between disciplines and reinforcing the experimental nature of the event.

One of the most significant moments of the night arrived at the end of the presentation, when the audience was invited to become part of the work. The experience shifted from purely contemplative to a shared act: attendees were able to “paint with light” alongside the artists, integrating themselves into the language of the performance and extending its energy into a participatory and collective dimension.

With Las formas del olvido, Michel C.M. did more than just transform the space of Foro EXU; he opened an experience where art, technology, and the body converged in a unique atmosphere. This intervention reaffirmed the interdisciplinary spirit of Art Week, proving that art can also inhabit time, darkness, and participation as forms of sensitive presence.
